Staff working in adult social care are invited to register for our webinar on keeping antibiotics working and what this means in practice.
Keeping antibiotics working (also known as antimicrobial stewardship or AMS) is everyone’s responsibility, no matter your role within adult social care. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), drug resistant infections and other antimicrobial-related risks are a threat to us all and everyone should be aware of what they can do within their personal and working lives to reduce these risks.

The use of restrictive practices - Care Inspectorate
- Details
- Written by: Care Inspectorate
- Category: The Care Inspectorate (Scotland)
- Hits: 50
The Care Inspectorate has published a Policy position on the use of restrictive practices. Restrictive practice which includes restraint, seclusion, segregation and other less direct practices may form part of a person’s plan of care or support. This includes all people from infants and children, through to young people, adults, and older people. This policy states our position on the use of restrictive practice in all services, to ensure this being the ‘last resort’ and where the risks and benefits to the person have been considered within a legal, ethical and practical framework. You can read the policy position here.
The Care Inspectorate has also recently published the first annual report on restrictive practices used in Scotland’s residential childcare settings. The report sets out data on recorded incidents of physical restraint and seclusion notified to the Care Inspectorate by residential care services for children and young people. You can read the report here.
