Disability Confident is a UK Government scheme to encourage employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit and retain disabled people as employees. The scheme was developed by employers and disabled people’s representatives to make it rigorous but easily accessible, particularly for smaller businesses.
Those with a disability who want to find work or sustain employment have access to support available from JobCentre Plus in the form of their local Disability Employment Adviser.
At this session, Susanne McGrath and Michell Milne from the Department for Work and Pensions will help us understand:
- What the Disability Confident Scheme is and how it supports employers
- How the DWP’s Disability Employment Advisors support disabled people into work
- How the Disability Employment Advisers can help retain your staff in the workplace
- What a reasonable adjustment is
- How to use a disability passport to support your employees in the workplace or in the recruitment of new staff
