Several regular volunteers go along every week and refurbish tools and work on various projects in the Tool Shed. There's lots of banter, cups of tea and interesting projects. As Volunteers' Week approaches (01-07 June), we are putting the finishing touches to the first of our special edition Volunteering in Fife bulletins! These bulletins come out monthly (sometimes twice a month) and are full of details about new and refreshed volunteering opportunities all over Fife. They also include any opportunities we know about for one-off volunteering, such as an event volunteer, and we add in any training and other news we have relevant to volunteers. What's different about our next bulletin, is that it will feature stories specific to the themes of Volunteers' Week and will showcase the celebration of volunteers and what organisations across Fife are doing to recognise their volunteers. The bulletins will also have their usual content.

The Scottish Government are seeking views on proposals for reform to the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 (AWI).
In 2000, when the AWI act came into force, it was regarded as ground-breaking legislation, essentially a world leader in capacity legislation. For the first time, Scotland had a comprehensive regime to protect the welfare and financial rights of persons lacking in capacity.
International human rights law in this field has developed further since then and the Scottish Government need to ensure that Scot

Can Fifers trust charities?
- Details
- Written by: Fife Voluntary Action
- Category: Fife Voluntary Action
- Hits: 415
Despite recent media coverage the people of Fife can, and should, trust charities.
I’ve conducted investigations into wrongdoing in charities and have seen some serious problems within a small number of them across the country. I know charities better than most people, having directly advised and supported hundreds over many years. I trust them and the people who run them – they are hard-working, decent, honest people who continue to impress and inspire me.
That doesn’t mean things can’t go wrong or that an individual might not seek to harm somebody. Let’s ensure some wrongdoing somewhere, as serious as it may have been, does not result in services being needlessly lost to our most vulnerable citizens.
