Further to recent news about the incidents that occurred at Oxfam and one or two others that have recently been reported in the media, Scotland's Charity Regulator (OSCR) has published some good guidance for Charity Trustees. It was sent by e-mail to the principal contact at every registered Charity in Scotland. If you received it, please pass it on to all Trustees and senior staff in your organisation.
If you didn't get it directly then you can read it below - we've copied it out in full.
Also, you may not have received because your organisation may not be a registered charity - not all third sector organisations are charities. The guidance will be helpful to non-Charities too.
All organisations have a duty of care to their staff, volunteers and beneficiaries/clients/service users. Please remember, Fife Voluntary Action is here to help, we can:
-
Be approached by anybody with concerns about how organisations are being run;
-
Provide support to help organisations to manage risk and ensure robust arrangements are in place;
-
Train Trustees/Committee members in good governance and to understand their roles and responsibilities (free session coming up on Wednesday 11 April in Cupar);
-
Advise organisations on how to manage difficult situations.
As always, please don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss this - almost all of the support we provide is free for third sector organisations operating in Fife.
