Working jointly with scrutiny and assurance, the quality improvement and participation section have invited care homes to join the first cohort of their national care home improvement programme (CHIP). The programme will invite care homes with grades of adequate and will run on a cohort basis, with the first starting on Thursday 18 April 2024. This first cohort will involve care homes within the health board areas of Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Forth Valley.
The programme will consist of four in-person learning events, as well as designated improvement adviser support, for the duration of the five-month programme. Each participating service will be supported to complete an improvement project based on the findings of their most recent inspection.
The programme’s intended learning outcomes are that participants, within their care homes, will have increased confidence in:
- using self-evaluation and participation approaches
- using quality improvement methods and tools
- applying leadership.
