New website launch – careinspectorate.scot
Next month, we’ll be launching our new Care Inspectorate website at careinspectorate.scot
The new website will replace our current corporate website and The Hub. It will bring everything together in one place and make it easier to find information about social care and social work in Scotland, guidance, updates, and improvement resources.
Any existing links from the old sites will automatically redirect, so you won’t lose access to content.
What you need to do
You don’t need to do anything right now. We will email you again to update you on the go-live date for the new site in the coming weeks. When the new site launches, you can then:
- update any saved bookmarks
- check and update links on your own website or in guidance documents
- share the new website address with colleagues.
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in developing our new website. Your views, feedback, and ongoing support have helped shape the site and have been greatly valued.
Digital social care focus group session
We are welcoming colleagues to join a follow‑up focus group from our surveillance and monitoring technologies survey and looking for a mix of voices and experiences in the room.
Date: Monday 27 April
Time: 10:00 - 11:00
This will be a relaxed, discussion‑based session. We will start with a short overview of our recent survey's findings to set the scene, but the focus of the hour is really about hearing your thoughts, experiences and reflections.
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance — just come along ready to chat and share your perspective. We are interested in understanding:
- how surveillance and monitoring technologies show up in your area of work
- any challenges or uncertainties you’ve come across
- how these technologies affect people’s privacy, dignity, or daily experience
- what considerations you feel should be reflected in future guidance.
This focus group supports work on developing updated guidance for providers and people using services and families.
We would especially like to hear from colleagues across all specialties and teams, so everyone’s insight is represented.

Reminder: Self-evaluation guides for children and young people services – share your feedback
We recently shared draft self-evaluation guides for children and young people services, including a full reference version and a shorter summary version. These drafts are intended to replace ‘Self-evaluation for improvement – your guide’ and the previous guidance published with each set of self-evaluation tools.
The guides bring all the information together in one place and include more detail on areas of the process that services have told us they find challenging. The summary guide gives the overarching structure, while the full guide can be used when extra detail or examples would be helpful.

We are keen to hear from more people working in and providing children and young people services about the content, specifically anything you feel should be added, removed or refined. You can share your views by completing the MS Form: Self-evaluation guides: feedback survey. Please submit your response by 24 April 2026. Thank you for your support and for taking the time to share your feedback.
Information session and promise update: care homes for children and young people and special residential schools
We are holding an online information session for providers, managers and staff working in care homes for children and young people or special residential schools.
At this session we will share our updated quality framework as well as information on self-evaluation and our approach to inspection for the 2026/27 inspection year. There will also be an opportunity to hear about quality improvement support programmes.
