The Volunteering and Voluntary Sector Awards are now open for nominations, FVA is hiring, and we've also created handy guides to the upcoming Scottish Parliamentary Election, particularly for those with disabilities.

Nominations for this year's Volunteering and Voluntary Sector Awards are open!
The awards celebrate the outstanding individuals and organisations that do truly exceptional work and fully deserve special recognition.
The awards are the highlight of the year for volunteering in Fife. We'd love to hear your success stories and shine a light on the role of Fife's brilliant volunteers and voluntary organisations.
Our celebrations this year will be held at the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes on Tuesday 02 June. Those shortlisted for awards will receive an invitation to the ceremony, along with the person who nominated them.

We are seeking a Digital Inclusion Co-ordinator to start as soon as possible to support local delivery of the Digital Inclusion Alliance (DIA) programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening digital inclusion and participation in Fife.
You will build a strong local evidence base on digital inclusion and exclusion, work with partners to embed digital inclusion into local strategies and services, and help develop a vibrant local innovation community.
- 21 hours per week (working pattern can be flexible across the working week to meet the needs of the role)
- £30,000 per annum (£18,000 pro rata)
- Living Pension - 9% employer, 3% employee
- Working in Kirkcaldy - with options to work regularly from other FVA locations

Guide to Voting in the Scottish Parliamentary Election 2026 for Fife
|
|
|
The Scottish Parliament election will take place on Thursday 07 May 2026. Polling stations will open at 7.00am and close at 10.00pm.
We have created a guide to registering and placing votes in this election for you and/or your service users. Click here to read the PDF.
We also have a guide for people with disabilities as there is a wide range of support and adjustments available to help everyone place their vote - click here.
Anyone who lives in Scotland and is registered to vote is eligible, as long as they are 16 or over on the day of the poll and have not been legally excluded from voting (for example, because they are serving a prison sentence of longer than 12 months).
The last date to apply to be registered for this election is Monday 20 April 2026.

Lunchtime Learning - Access to Work and Disability Confident

Access to Work can help individuals get or stay in work if they have a physical or mental health condition or disability. This can include grants that may help with additional costs beyond “reasonable adjustments”. It can also help support to manage mental health at work.

Lunchtime Learning - Supporting Refugees and Migrants in Fife

Alison Smith, Manager from Fife International Forum, will help us understand the common challenges facing newly arrived individuals, how to help someone new to Scotland and find their way through the benefits system, and how language barriers can be overcome.

The forum is a fantastic space for third sector colleagues to come along and hear about key developments in health and social care in Fife and nationally, discuss significant issues and network with other third sector organisations.

The new Opportunities Fife Partnership People and Skills Community of Practice will comprise of third and public sector partners working with clients on the employability pipeline in Fife.

The Fife Employability Forum is held quarterly and brings together staff and managers involved in employability services from all sectors - aiming to help organisations to work together to improve employment outcomes for people in Fife.

Voluntary Sector Children‘s Services Forum - May

The Forum meets regularly to provide updates, networking opportunities, problem solve, respond to consultations, raise concerns for representatives/FVA to progress and to get updates from FVA and representatives about what's happening at the many partnerships, networks and groups across the Children's Services Partnership in Fife and beyond.

Shared Care Scotland: Creative Breaks Fund for 2026-27
A total of around £1.6 million is available for this round of Creative Breaks for 12-month grants for third sector organisations to deliver short breaks for unpaid carers of adults (aged 21 and over), young carers, and the people that they care for.

Fife Climate Festival 2026 - Get Involved!
To help make the festival possible, the Fife Climate Hub is offering small grants of £250 to member organisations that wish to host an event during the festival.

The Wildlife Trusts - Green Community Grants
The Green Community Grants Programme offers one-year flexible funding for not-for-profit groups with an annual income between £10,000 and £1 million.

The Goldsmiths’ Foundation: Grants Programme
The Goldsmiths’ Foundation supports organisations that focus on vocational skills and training, working at the intersection of creativity and social change.

Barclays Community Sport Fund
Grants are available for groups wishing to start offering football, tennis, or cricket, those keen to expand their existing provision to new audiences, or those already delivering sport to under-represented young people.

Caremark: Community Care Fund
Caremark is supporting community projects across the UK that bring people together and make a positive difference. Three winning projects will receive a £3,000 grant each.

National Churches Trust: Large Grants
Priority is given to projects that demonstrate well-developed plans for the building that are supported beyond the congregation, and into the future.

Rhododendron Trust
They are a grant-making charity focused mainly on the welfare of the disadvantaged in the UK and overseas, but also supporting arts and wildlife charities.

Local Energy Scotland: Community Energy Generation Growth Fund
The Community Energy Generation Growth Fund will support community groups across Scotland to set up renewable energy generation projects.
Closing date: Open for applications, however, due to the Scottish Election in May they are unable to confirm the fund closing date or confirm overall scheme funding until a new Government is in place and approves the awarding of new funds.
