Impact of multiple cardiometabolic conditions requiring hospitalisation on monthly employee earnings and employment status
On 29 June, the ONS released analysis exploring how having multiple cardiometabolic long-term conditions affects how much money people earn and whether they have a job in England.
Cardiometabolic multiple long-term conditions in this analysis relates to chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. This work has been commissioned from the ONS by NHS England.
Conceptions in England and Wales: 2023
On Friday 26 June, the ONS published the Conceptions in England and Wales: 2023 bulletin and dataset. This release combines Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) abortions data with ONS data on births to provide information on conceptions to residents of England and Wales.
For the first time, the ONS has also produced three-year aggregate conceptions for under 18-year-olds by Middle-layer Super Output Area (MSOA), providing local areas with smaller geographical breakdowns.
Community services data set and healthy child programme: data quality review, 2015 to 2025
On 9 June, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) published a review analysing the completeness of the Community services data set (CSDS) for children aged 0 to 4, covering financial years 2015 to 2016 through 2024 to 2025.
The aim is to assess how complete and robust the dataset is for producing public health indicators linked to the Healthy Child Programme (HCP).
CSDS child counts were compared with ONS mid-year population estimates and relevant live births. The analysis also reviewed breastfeeding at 56 days, Ages & Stages Questionnaires (Third Edition) at 914 days, and includes data on children’s sex and ethnicity.
Findings are presented at national and statistical region level, with accompanying tables and a dashboard providing the same analysis at upper tier local authority level.
UK measures of national well-being dashboard
On 8 June, the ONS released the most recent update to UK measures of national well-being (UKMNW) dashboard.
The dashboard provides an overview of well-being in the UK on an individual, community and national level. It considers change across 59 measures of well-being, grouped by 10 topic areas including health, relationships, and personal wellbeing.
Explore how trends differ across communities, from healthy life expectancy and overall health status to satisfaction with health and levels of depression or anxiety.
Infant feeding survey in England 2024
On 4 June, OHID published the Infant feeding survey in England 2024.
This is a national longitudinal survey of mothers living in England and looks at how infants are fed during the first 10 months of life. The last infant feeding survey was completed in 2010. The survey was led by OHID and was conducted by Ipsos UK.
Data was collected for all aspects of infant feeding, including:
- breastfeeding practices
- use of infant formula
- introduction of solid foods
- vitamin use
- support received before and after birth
It also gathered information on mothers’ behaviours during pregnancy, including smoking and alcohol use.
