In this month’s article, Cameron-Wong McDermott discusses the new powers to support disabled people to make changes to the common parts of the building in which they live, for example a bin storage area. These powers, under the Relevant Adjustments to Common Parts (Disabled Persons)(Scotland) Regulations, were introduced in February 2020. The new legislation extends disabled people’s rights, and provides opportunities to remove barriers to independent living.
